THE T&P RELIEF VALVE PROVIDES AN
NPT CONNECTION
IN ORDER TO ATTACH A DRAIN PIPE
DULAC SAFE PLUG RELIEF ™
The Dulac Safe Plug Relief (SPR) fitting is designed to allow the
T&P Relief Valve to do its job plugged, valve off, frozen, or circumvented.

The SPR provides full-line size unrestricted flow.  With the SPR in place the
T&P Relief Valve is allowed to do the job – preventing a Water Heater explosion.

In the event a plug, a valve, or some other blockage is used to defeat the
purpose of the discharge from the T&P Relief Valve, the SPR will separate to
allow the T&P Relief Valve to work as expected (BLOW OFF).

Innovative Design

The SPR is designed to prevent the accidental or intentional plugging of a T&P
Relief Valve.  The idea for this device was directly inspired by my learning of a
maintenance person working for a large Condo Association who was
instructed to cap or plug off the relief valves on the 332 water heaters in all the
units to prevent them from discharging water and damaging carpeting.

Universal Problem

Each year there are approximately 9 million T&P Relief Valves manufactured in
the United States for new Water Heaters, with an additional estimated 1 million
for the replacement market.  With the average Water Heater life expectancy of 7
years, this would indicate approximately 63 million plus… T&P Relief Valves in
service in the USA alone.

Cost Effective

Designed to be used as an add-on or manufactured into new T&P Valves.  A
quick and easy fix to a major and dangerous problem.

NPT Threads on T&P Relief Valves is recognized as dangerous and could be
addressed and resolved with the Code requirement of the SPR
