It was a simple operation to boost pressure and volume for a system that had no pressure at the street to speak of. The home sat 2600' off the road, I ran a 1 1/2" feed and was 23' higher than the street. We had 40 lb. at the street and about 9 gpm. With the Yikes, the water pressure was boosted to 60lbs and 12gpm! I was amazed! So was the customer. The homeowner would like to at least boost the pressure on the hot water side..the whole house (newer house) is plumbed in 1/2 Qest piping , city water pressure is about 40 psi, I believe the flow rate for the unit is approx 1.8 gpm. Locally, they have the whole house boosters available (about $350.00), kinda overkill just to increase pressure for shower unit, thats all homeowner is concened about, he just wants to be able to use the 3 devices on unit at same time..I am thinking this will become more of an issue for homeowners around the country as more of the fancy shower units come online,odd thing is shower pumps are widely available in the United Kingdom, they exist!!! I have considered installing an off shelf booster pump (they usually have pre-set pressure though) with a gate valve to step-down pressure (if needed) and they rarely have a flow sensor to turn unit on in first place.
